  • 1 lb shrimp (shell on or off)
  • 2 tsp Stingin' Hot Chili Garlic Sauce
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ cup cold unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

  • Toasted sesame seeds

Method

For the Slaw

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, salt, Halifax Stingin' Hot Chili Garlic Sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

Step 2

Using clean hands or tongs, thoroughly mix and massage the cabbage for 2–3 minutes until it begins to soften and absorb the dressing.

Step 3

Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavours to develop.

For the Shrimp

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp, Stingin' Hot Chili Garlic Sauce, smoked paprika, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated.

Step 2

Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Add the shrimp and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure even cooking.

Step 4

If the pan becomes dry, add a small splash of water to deglaze and prevent sticking.

Step 5

Once the shrimp are fully cooked and opaque, add the cold butter to the pan.

Step 6

Swirl the pan gently until the butter has completely melted and created a glossy sauce that coats the shrimp.

Remove the shrimp from the heat immediately.

Assembly
